By the Moore Automotive Team · October 19, 2026

The short answer

The 2027 Honda Civic sedan and hatchback are starting to arrive at dealers now, and a new Sport-L trim joins the lineup by the end of the year. The Sport-L sits between the Sport and the Sport Hybrid and adds leather, heated power front seats and dual-zone climate control, features that used to mean stepping up to a hybrid. It starts at $28,495 MSRP for the sedan and $29,695 for the hatchback, plus a $1,295 destination charge.

What the Sport-L adds

  • Leather and power seats: leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats, previously only on the Sport Touring Hybrid.
  • Heated seats and dual-zone climate: heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control, previously only on the hybrid trims.
  • Small touches: silver interior trim, illuminated vanity mirrors and a passenger seatback pocket.
  • Same gas powertrain as the Sport: a 2.0-liter engine with a CVT, rated at 31/39/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) for the sedan and 30/38/34 for the hatchback.

Elsewhere in the lineup, the Sport Touring Hybrid gets Honda’s S+ Shift drive mode from the Prelude, which simulates gear changes and rev-matched downshifts. Every 2027 Civic has Honda Sensing, and all Sport models add blind spot information with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

2027 Civic pricing

Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices, before the $1,295 destination charge:

  • Sedan: LX $24,995 · Sport $26,995 · Sport-L $28,495 · Sport Hybrid $29,695 · Sport Touring Hybrid $32,695
  • Hatchback: Sport $28,195 · Sport-L $29,695 · Sport Hybrid $30,895 · Sport Touring Hybrid $33,895

Our take

For a lot of local drivers, the Civic decision has come down to whether heated seats were worth paying for the hybrid. The Sport-L takes that question off the table. On the sedan it’s $1,500 more than the Sport and $1,200 less than the Sport Hybrid, and you get the comfort features you notice on a cold January morning in Owensboro or Hartford.

If you drive a lot of miles, still compare it with the hybrid. The Sport Hybrid sedan is rated at 49 mpg combined versus 34 for the Sport-L, which works out to about 135 fewer gallons a year at 15,000 miles. If your driving is mostly short trips around town, the Sport-L is probably the better value.

The Sport-L arrives closer to the end of the year, so it may be a few weeks before one is on the lot at Don Moore Honda.
