The short answer

Toyota is adding a Woodland Edition to the 2027 Grand Highlander. It’s a hybrid, all-wheel-drive, seven-seat version built for gravel roads, campsites and the lake. It gets all-terrain tires, roof crossbars, a tow hitch and a removable cooler between the second-row seats. Toyota hasn’t announced pricing yet, and the 2027s are due at dealerships later this year.

What the Woodland Edition adds

  • Ready for back roads: 18-inch matte black wheels with all-terrain tires, taller springs and about half an inch more ground clearance than other Grand Highlanders.
  • Ready for gear: roof rails with crossbars, a tow hitch, LED fog lamps and mud guards.
  • Ready for the family: seven seats with second-row captain’s chairs, leather-trimmed black seating and a heated steering wheel, plus a removable Woodland cooler between the second-row seats that holds six 12-ounce cans.
  • Easy to clean up: all-weather floor mats and a cargo tray with pop-up dividers.
  • A 120-volt outlet for a campsite coffee maker or charging gear.
  • Under the hood: the Grand Highlander’s 2.5-liter hybrid with standard all-wheel drive, rated at 245 total horsepower.

Other 2027 Grand Highlander changes

The XLE now comes standard with a heated steering wheel and new 18-inch wheels. The Nightshade Edition and the Hybrid MAX Limited are gone for 2027. Starting prices are $42,560 for the gas LE and $45,910 for the hybrid LE, before fees.

Our take

If your weekends involve a boat ramp, a deer camp or a long gravel driveway, this is the Grand Highlander we’d look at. You get the room and hybrid fuel economy of a family SUV, plus the tires and gear you’d otherwise add yourself.

If you need a three-row SUV now rather than later this year, our current Grand Highlander inventory is ready to shop. Every one shows its Moore Value Price up front.
